Believe it or not this piece used to be a black and yellow wooden sunflower. In Art III we were given the task to make the viewer see what is painted on the form before the form itself. When I first saw this flower I thought of the camera, since the hard part was over it was time to figure out a way to make the camera stand out against the round form. I used various painting techniques to bring it to life. Since it is meant to be viewed from all three sides I made the choice to drill a hole in my piece and hang it up leaving it free to rotate.
