This is a clay coil pot that I did late of last year. This was the very first clay piece, the process however was very easy for a beginner like me. You first get some clay and roll it into long thinish strips then you use those strips to spiral around in a flat circle starting from the middle to create your base. To build up from that flat base you need a WHOLE LOT more clay strips and you’re going to wind them around and around the edge of your base overlapping them as you go slowly building up your height. Just make sure that you mash the rings together so it doesn’t come unraveled as you keep building another sure way to keep your piece together you smooth together the outside creating a smooth surface. Then you fire it and whala a pot or bowl. As you can see, I painted mine and turned it into a flower pot.
